The Litterboom Project (TLP) is a solution to alleviating the increase in marine plastic pollution. So far, TLP has successfully been able to prevent hundreds of thousands of kilograms of plastic from reaching the ocean through the hard work of a very small team.
per kg of plastic
tonnes of plastic collected
tonnes of plastic collected per month
tonnes of plastic recycled
The physical solution is simple. The team uses a large pipe that they anchor across the river, which acts as a catchment for all surface level plastics - which are predominantly HDPE and PET
This preventative measure is set up strategically where it can collect large amounts of waste which is then sorted by their team. This NPO employs local communities to help them carry out their operations.
You’ll receive a Section 18A certificate confirming your contribution.
90% of marine plastic pollution comes from river systems. Your donation can go a long way in helping solve this problem.
The Litterboom Project is an NPO that relies heavily on the support of local communities, the business sector and the general public to implement and maintain its operations throughout the country. This organisation isn’t just focused on removing plastic waste, but they also create employment opportunities and uplift local communities.
