Putting people first

Fedgroup’s community involvement

At Fedgroup, we believe business should be a force for good, not just in principle, but in practice. That’s why we’ve built our approach around people, prioritising impact alongside performance.

Whether it’s creating opportunities for young learners, uplifting vulnerable communities, protecting our environment, or supporting those in need of rehabilitation, we actively seek out ways to make a meaningful difference. The initiatives below are just a few examples of how we turn this ethos into action.

iTeke Learnership Programme

Beneficiary Care is a core specialist area of our business and in keeping with our vision for this product, we created the iTeke Learnership Programme. iTeke is open exclusively to our beneficiaries and provides learners with a year’s exposure to mentorship, work experience and a SETA-accredited tertiary qualification. This bridges the all-important gap between completing their schooling and finding gainful employment for those who do not have the resources to complete a tertiary education.

Botshabelo Babies Home

Botshabelo is a multi-faceted charity, passionate about transforming children’s lives. Botshabelo’s programmes include a home for abandoned babies, a preschool that caters for underprivileged and emerging families, and a teacher training and upliftment programme partnering with impoverished communities. Fedgroup is actively involved in all these initiatives, sponsoring teacher training, children in the Urban Kids Educentre, Botshabelo babies, and parent training workshops focusing on financial education. Fedgroup also assisted in building libraries at the early learning centres in Olievenhoutbosch and helped to fill them with books. In line with our company ethos, we encourage the active involvement of our staff members in support of these initiatives.

Trojans Neurological Trust (TnT)

Fedgroup proudly supports the Trojans Neurological Trust (TnT), a non-profit organisation founded in 2007. With qualified biokineticists on board, TnT assists those with brain and spinal cord injuries who cannot afford rehabilitation. In a country where many can’t access proper care, TnT provides much-needed funding and support to help these individuals achieve their recovery goals. Fedgroup staff and other volunteers assist TnT team members by pulling their chariots during races, most recently at the Ride Joburg. Our partnership includes sponsoring cycling events and providing support during races to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

The Litterboom Project

The Litterboom Project (TLP) offers an innovative solution to combat the growing crisis of marine plastic pollution and the resulting damage to our waterways and communtieis. Thanks to the dedication of a small but mighty team, TLP has already stopped hundreds of thousands of kilograms of plastic from reaching the ocean.

But their work doesn’t’ end there. Beyond protecting marine ecosystems, this non-profit organisation plays a role in uplifting nearby communities. It creates jobs, empowers individuals, and enables locals to turn collected plastic into products that can be sold – transforming waste into opportunity.

Fedgroup has made it easy for our clients to support this initiative via our app. More than just a feel-good moment, we’ve built in a tangible way to track the difference your donation makes – so you’ll see exactly how your money is helping drive real, measurable impact.

Reviews about Fedgroup’s Community Initiatives

As a financial services provider in South Africa, we know that what we do is about more than money, it’s about our community. While our primary focus is on ensuring that we put the money our clients entrust us with to work for them, we make time for those who need a helping hand, a safe place to enjoy the fresh air, and the support to reach their dreams. Read on to find out how our community initiatives have positive impacted lives in Mzanzi.

“Fedgroup’s Beneficiary Care allowed me to study at the school of my choice. However, after school there was not enough money for further studies. I was therefore happy for the opportunity to gain work exposure through the Iteke programme. Because we rotate through different departments, I could build up a lot of experience and decide what to do with my career.”

“The Iteke programme provided me with early exposure to the tools I need to succeed in business. This has made the difficult adjustment from school to work life easy and has given me a big advantage to get ahead in life.”

Fedgroup beneficiary and Iteke learner

“I gave up on performing at school because I just didn’t know where the help was going to come from. That is when I got a letter from Fedgroup about the Iteke learnership programme. A fresh approach to life was exactly what I got when I started the programme. I believe I am capable and I have the potential to change. I am now in the process of making my life and my mother’s life better.”
